Horse Owner Alert: Pythiosis

We now have experienced an increase that is recent horses being admitted into the UF Large Animal Hospital with an analysis of cutaneous pythiosis, an infectious condition brought on by the pathogen Pythium insidiosum, that leads to granulating skin surface damage. Recently, two horses through the farm that is same towards the UF Large Animal Hospital approx two days aside showing exactly the same medical signs and symptoms of colic. Both horses had surgery during the UF Large Animal Hospital and every had the identical difficult impaction into the colon that is large.
